What is Girls of Impact?

Girls of Impact exists to educate, empower and elevate the next generation of change makers and leaders, empowering them to choose a career they love and build a thriving sustainable future.

Girls of Impact is a social enterprise set out to re-define the future of work and what it means for girls. It exists to break down gender stereotypes and encourage girls to think boldly about their careers.  We are a movement and a community that helps young women navigate their lives and future careers so they can find their greatness.

We encourage girls to explore and nurture their remarkable powers and own how they want to show up in this world so they can be unstoppable.

Girls of Impact offers an inclusive community of inspiring content, impactful events, intersectional workshops and mentoring programs to support girls to navigate their futures with confidence and clarity.

We believe ‘she can be what she can see’, so we introduce every girl of impact to inspiring role models and mentors who make a difference in our communities. At the same time, the opportunity to make life-long friendships and forming their own cheer squad.

At Girls of Impact, we celebrate the brave, bold, and brilliant girls who step up to challenge the status quo, push through obstacles and barriers, smash those glass ceilings and have the drive and determination to help shape a thriving, diverse and inclusive future.

Kate Bushell, Founder & CEO of Girls of Impact

Our Founder & Chief Career Champion

Hi, I’m Kate Bushell.  My daughter, Emily lit the fire in my belly, and it’s my determination and ambition to do more for young women as what I’m seeing for their futures isn’t good enough.

My goal is simple — to see more girls of impact. To see them embrace their purpose, passion and power and make a positive impact on the world by finding a job they love.  For too long women and girls have faced stereotypes, biases, barriers and inequalities that have held them back from playing their part in an array of different roles and industries. It’s time to change this. There are so many reasons why having women in leadership and different industries like tech is beneficial and vital. It will future proof our young women, address current sexism within these sectors, provide role models for girls and secure long-term financial independence for girls.

Having spent years in the world of diversity equity and inclusion, I know women offer unique insights, perspectives and skills into the workplace. The world is a better, kinder, more empathetic place when women are fairly represented across all industries. If the world is being built under the leadership of only a small portion of our community, what kind of world will we have? We need women building our futures and a world that is equal.

I founded Girls of Impact, so we could not only imagine a better world for girls but drive change forward.  I invite you to join the Girls of Impact movement with me, so we can inspire young women to choose a career they love, whole-heartedly believe in themselves and positvely change the way we view the world.

Personal Accolades & Experience

Here's what others have to say

"As a teacher, I wholeheartedly support and encourage the work that Girls of Impact are doing. They are making a real positive difference in the lives of so many young women. I know how needed these programs are to support young women in being inspired into non-traditional career paths in STEM & Entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, as teachers, we aren't tasked with extensive career coaching for our pupils. The uptake of STEM subjects is still biased towards boys. There is no consistency between schools of extra activities for girls to support them into considering STEM pathways. I know the workshops run are welcomed by schools as they fit our professional development and wellbeing efforts. This is a great advantage for busy schools who can engage Girls of Impact to support in educating girls further on the career pathways available and inspire them to broaden their thinking on career options.

I will undoubtedly be engaging Girls of Impact to run workshops at my school and advising my colleagues, peers, and networks in other schools and regions to do the same."

"As a mum of two daughters, I think it's so important for girls to see women in leadership and women in power owning what they do, and creating the new world that girls will see in the future. Well done, Girls of Impact, for shining a light on this area and inspiring so many young women. I wish that I had access to these resources when I was younger."
